Ford introduced all-new models for 1952, beating rival Chevrolet to the punch by a full year. The Fairlane Crown Victoria Skyliner, commonly known as “Glasstop Vicky”, became the company’s mid-market entry. Featuring a more modern style including a panoramic windshield, curved rear glass, a modified grille, and glass roof. More ornamentation to break up the earlier “Shoebox” look that Ford was known for. These changes weren’t the only ones as the 162 HP 272 CID or the 182 HP 292 CID were offered.
The new Crown Victoria style featured a chrome basket handle across the hardtop roof separating the hard top from the transparent skylighted top.
There were only 1999 of these models built at the factory and are indeed a rarity. This stunning unmolested example sports a dealer installed option of the glass roof, its original interior with one exterior repaint.
